Don't Be a Chatty Cathy in a Job Interview

If you talk too much during a job interview you may project an image of an individual who is excessively self-centered, selfish, shallow, irritating and/or has poor “people” skills. Most job searchers tend to talk far too much which can leave a negative impression.

Try to match your interviewer word for word. Though you may find it pleasurable to talk about yourself and all your wonderful achievements, keep your comments simple, direct and above all laconic (expressing yourself with few words).

Keep the conversation focused on the job and the tasks the employer needs covered - instead of getting carried away blabbing about yourself.
